New media is creating opportunities for direct communicating
(Ljubljana, Slovenia, May 20th, 2008)
The 6th annual international conference on communication practice, organized by London School of Public Relations (LSPR), Chamber of Public Relations (ZOJ) and International Communications Consultancy Organization (ICCO) ended today. The core theme of this year’s conference was New Media in PR and communicating. The breakthrough we all agreed on was that the new media, which creates many opportunities, is growing ever so important, while the role of traditional media is not diminishing.
Social networks, forums, wikis, blogs and numerous new tools enable organizations to communicate directly with their publics. However, that demands transparency, responsibility and responsiveness. In the spirit of new media we honored the selected, fore most contributors to the development of communicating with the “Golden Loaf” awards presented by LSPR and ZOJ for the 3rd consecutive year. This year’s recipients are Amelia Tomašević from Croatia, the managing board of the Slovene PR Society (PRSS) and Paul Holmes from United States of America.
Two days at the conference united around 130 experts and practitioners from the PR, communication and media fields. 20 lecturers from Great Britain, United States of America, Morocco, France, Germany, India, Italy, Croatia and Slovenia shared their insights about the role of new media in communicating and presented several contemporary practices from the field.
