Communicators and Managers to Discuss Business Objectives-centred Communication in a Round Table Discussion
The round table discussion entitled "Business Objectives-centred Communication" will refer to the synergies and conflicts in cooperation between managers and communicators.

(Maribor, Slovenia, May 11th, 2006.)

The role of the corporate communication function gains increasing importance, with the managers becoming more and more open to various expert advices and assuming an active role in communication. The round table discussion entitled “Business Objectives-centred Communication”, which is to take place in the framework of the International Conference on Communication Practice Portorož 2006, will refer to the synergies and conflicts in cooperation between managers and communicators. Under the leadership of Božidar Novak, Director of SPEM Communication Group and Chairman of the Slovene PR Agencies Association (ZOJS), several panellists will present their experience. Participating managers and communicators include Sandi Uranc, Director of Marketing at Gorenje, Peter Vadosz, Partner at Neopublic Porter Novelli from Slovakia, Volker Weber, Lecturer at the Deutscher Academie für Public Relations from Germany and Director of Volker Weber Consulting, Mojmir Ocvirk, Regional Director of Development and Partner at Imelda Ogilvy, and Marko Kryžanowski, CEO of Petrol.

Contemporary managers believe communication contributes importantly to successful operations and affects corporate reputation, market shares, financial success, and sales. Communicators thus face a new role: publicity managers have turned into reputation managers and are now able to exert direct influence on corporate operations. The round table discussion is to shed some light on how managers and communicators face new challenges of the communication function in practice and what the future role of the communication function will be like. Scheduled to take place on Thursday, 18th May between 4 and 5 PM, the discussion will mark the end of the first day of the conference, when internationally renowned experts will present their views on this year’s central topic of business-centred communication.
